Digital Marketing Strategist

We help associations and other organizations deliver educational content to their members, learners, and stakeholders—content that transforms industries. We love our customers. We love what we do. And we need someone who loves to “geek out” on digital marketing and can help us continue to get in front of more prospective customers.

At its core, the Digital Marketing Strategist is responsible for helping the company achieve its revenue goals by generating high quality inbound sales leads.

Our current program consists of content marketing, inbound marketing, PPC, SEO, advertising, social media marketing, tradeshow support, and integrated sales and marketing campaigns. We need you to be the engine that keeps all of these pieces moving, using our analytics to keep us pointed in the right direction.

To be successful in this position, you need to have at least an intermediate understanding of the principles of B-to-B marketing designed to generate leads in an environment where there is a long sales cycle. You also need to be able to interpret data from a variety of sources to uncover new opportunities for program growth and optimization.

We are a small but mighty team with a “We got this!” attitude. Collaboration and brainstorming are a big piece of our day-to-day. But just to be sure we have our bases covered, here are our more formal Responsibilities and Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, prioritize, and execute strategies to optimize performance of our WordPress website, including product positioning/messaging, keyword strategies, technical SEO, and user experience
  • Work closely with outside pay-per-click agency to optimize existing paid search campaigns and test new campaigns and ad groups
  • Oversee the development and execution of email and lead nurture campaigns, while assuming ownership of our marketing automation platform (Pardot)
  • Identify and execute content marketing opportunities and strategies that increase visibility, including blog and video topics, cornerstone content development, and social media promotion
  • Help develop and execute tradeshow communications campaigns designed to increase the return of our tradeshow investments
  • Track and measure all digital campaigns, using insights to help direct testing and optimization strategies
  • Own all monthly channel metrics and update all monthly dashboards
  • Develop and maintain a mastery of key marketing tools such as: Google Analytics and Google Data Studio, Google Tag Manager, Google AdWords, Bing/Microsoft Ads, LinkedIn and Twitter, etc.
  • Work across all departments, including marketing, sales, project management, product development and leadership teams to prioritize strategies, ensure consistency and uncover new opportunities
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of our customers and their online behaviors, as well as our competitive marketplace
  • Stay ahead of current and emerging digital marketing trends


Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in a digital strategy role

Required Skills:

  • Extremely adept at putting SEO principles into practice, including performing keyword research and making optimization recommendations
  • Proficient in tracking and interpreting data from Google Analytics/Google Data Studio and other data sources into meaningful insights
  • Know the optimal way to incorporate web tracking tools (e.g., setting up UTM codes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with web design best practices, particularly design that helps to increase on-site conversion
  • Experience working with a marketing automation platform (Pardot preferred)
  • Experience working with WordPress
  • Strong relationship management, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of internal teams and business groups and meet stated timelines
  • Has a passion for digital communication, marketing, and trends
  • A strong communicator with an ability to articulate complex topics simply and succinctly
  • Working familiarity with HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) preferred
  • Experience working with Salesforce a plus
